Interestingly, though I am overweight, it cannot be attributed to carbs. I have always wondered why sandwiches had to include bread, why butter chicken needs to be served with rice, why I can't have pasta sauce without the pasta, or why potatoes even exist in the first place!

I did want to correct a misconception about one of my favourite foods, olives. They are high fat, yes, but it is "good fat" - the same kind found avocados. My "good cholesterol" level is actually through the roof, and I attribute this to a diet very high in good fats. Unfortunately, olives are also very high in sodium!

I am big on fruits and veggies, legumes and pulses, and fish.

So why am I overweight? Well, I've come to the conclusion it has very little to do with WHAT I eat, but rather how much I eat and how little I exercise. I've reached this conclusion by looking at my husband, who has a normal BMI. My husband and I eat pretty much the same thing and the same portion size. The Canada Food Guide suggests he should ingest more calories than I on a daily basis, so I am clearly eating more than I should. Also, he works out at least 3x/week. I don't. Anyway, that's my take on it. Keep working at it, Venus! nd why not let them post your pic? You have much to be proud of!
